Free flow of smart energy (electricity, gas, water) data is essential for energy producers, utilities and their customers to benefit from the intelligence of the grids, meters, appliances and the ubiquitous internet can provide today. There are several communication standards addressing this need. This panel of experts will present selected communication protocols for smart energy data exchange, their scope of application and how the issues of interoperability and security are tackled. The purpose of the panel is to present and discuss choices/decisions that Utilities might have to make regarding smart energy metering projects.
