Session Introduction - Consumer Engagement with Smart Meters in The EU

The massive smart meters rollout is happening in the EU countries at different speeds and conditions, which constitutes an opportunity to the overall society. This includes new services offered by companies based on the smart meter data, better information for public bodies and a great potential for consumers' engagement. In those countries where smart meters are already installed, utilities or third parties start to provide new services to companies and consumers. Consulting companies and suppliers offer business intelligence products or market segmentation by using the new information from the smart meters, while informed consumers benefit from better understanding how to save energy based on their own consumption data.
