Ric Vicari is an IT industry veteran having been a business leader for both large and small enterprises and a tech entrepreneur during his career to date. A SaaS business expert, in the past three years Ric's focus has increasingly been on cloud-based economics and on the evolutionary changes within the Utility sector due to changing consumer expectation around digital engagement, online payments and cross selling of telecom, utility and other products and services.
Ric has extensive experience with complex enterprise IT solutions for the utility, telecom and financial services industries in Europe, Middle east, Asia and Latin America. Ric joined Opower from Aria Systems, a US cloud-based monetisation and engagement management solution across all verticals, where he led the EMEA startup from scratch, including devising the Go-To-market strategy, recruiting the initial team in all customer-facing functions and acquiring the first few milestone customers and strategic partnerships.
Before Aria Ric led a large multinational customer-facing team in Comverse, a NASDAQ-listed telco solution vendor where he was responsible for C-level relationship management and as an executive escalation point for Customer Care and Billing projects worth over $100M.
Ric started his career in the Fujitsu group in UK and Asia-Pacific, then joined Intec Telecom Systems, a telco ISV "unicorn" in the early 2000s, now part of CGS International. He later contributed to the early development of technology startups now part of Cisco and BT.
