Industrial Engineering from the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid.

He joined Red Eléctrica in December 1989.

He was appointed head of Research, Development and technology innovation in February 2009, and he has extensive experience in innovation activities at international level.

Since October 2014 coordinates the Best Paths Project, the largest project in the field of electrical networks funded by the European Commission through the various Framework Programmes supporting research and technological development.

Previously he was technical manager of TWENTIES Project, another outstanding FP7 project that run from 4/2010 to 9/2013.

He is member of the Research, Development and Innovation Committee (RDIC) in ENTSO-E since December 2010. Between February 2011 and February 2016 he was Vice-chairman of the RDIC.

Since May 2010 is ENTSO-E representative of in the European Technology and Innovation Platform (ETIP) Smart Energy Networks for Energy Transition, within the SET Plan, previously known as Industrial Initiative Electric Networks,

He was also Convenor of the R & D Working Group of ENTSO-E between July 2009 and November 2010.

Between 1998 and 2009 he worked for the international business of the group Red Eléctrica, mainly in the field of International Consultancy, activity of which he was responsible since 2007. In this period he was involved in several projects in Latin America (Colombia, Ecuador, Chile, Panama and Costa Rica), Eastern Europe (Romania, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Serbia and Albania) and the Southern Mediterranean region (Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya, Egypt and Syria), working directly for utilities or through international organizations (IDB, EBRD, EuropeAid, IMG, USAID, ...)

Between 1993 and 1998 he worked in the R & D Coordination area and between 1989 and 1993 in the area of development within the General Directorate of Transmission.

Before joining Red Eléctrica he worked for the marketing department of Fujitsu Spain.
